Questions

General
Where is the LAND located?

The LAND is nestled in Northern New Mexico, just past Abiquiú Lake. Exact directions and GPS coordinates are provided once your event is confirmed. We encourage guests to download directions in advance, as cell service can be intermittent in the surrounding high desert. Parking is available onsite and must be coordinated through your event organizer.

What kind of events can hosted the LAND?

The LAND welcomes weddings, music gatherings, corporate retreats, wellness immersions, creative workshops, and intimate celebrations. Each event must align with our ethos of respect for nature, community, and artistry.

Can we bring live music or amplified sound?

Absolutely — with respect. Amplified sound must comply with county ordinances and our community agreements. Outdoor music has curfews, and volume must remain at a level that respects the surrounding landscape and neighbors.

What accommodations are available?

The LAND features a collection of adobe homes and barn-style lodging. Event organizers may book accommodations directly for their groups, subject to availability. Overflow lodging is available in nearby Abiquiú, Española, and Santa Fe.

What accommodations are available?

Venue rental typically includes access to designated event spaces (barn, decks, creekside areas, etc.), basic utilities, high-speed WiFi and parking.

Additional services such as event coordination, rentals, catering, or A/V are contracted separately.

Is camping allowed?

Camping is not permitted unless expressly agreed upon in advance, for certain retreats or overnight experiences.

Do you provide event coordination?

We are primarily a venue and creative sanctuary. You may bring your own planner or coordinator, provided they meet our vendor insurance requirements. Reach out if you want to co-create an event together to hello@theland.earth

What about directions for deliveries and vendors?

Vendors must use the main entry road and check in upon arrival. Heavy vehicles (delivery trucks, stages, etc.) must be approved in advance to protect the property. Organizers should schedule deliveries with us so we can manage access.

What time can we set up and break down?

Set-up and tear-down windows are outlined in your event agreement. Early or late access may incur additional fees and must be pre-approved.

What happens if it rains or snows?

The LAND is an outdoor-forward venue in a climate of sun, wind, and occasional storms. Organizers are responsible for weather contingencies such as tents, heaters, or shade structures. We recommend always planning for four-season conditions.

Will we see wildlife at the LAND?

the LAND is part of the high-desert wilderness of Northern New Mexico, where nature moves freely. Guests often enjoy sightings of deer, elk, beavers, coyotes, Foxes, owls, and a wide variety of birds.

Like many wild places — and even certain city greenbelts — there is also the chance of encountering more elusive animals such as bears or mountain lions. Sightings are very rare as these animals generally avoid people.

We encourage guests to treat all wildlife with respect:
Enjoy observing from a distance.
Keep food and trash properly stored.
Supervise children and pets.

Our team will provide guidance during your event, and with simple awareness, the LAND remains a safe and inspiring setting.

Pets are welcome only with prior approval, must remain leashed, and may not interfere with livestock, activities, other guests, or wildlife. Owners typically incur a Pet Fee per animal, and always assume full responsibility.

What happens if it rains or snows?

Photography and filming at the LAND are handled on a case-by-case basis.

Because the property is frequently used for commercial shoots, any professional photography, videography, or film work must be approved in advance.

Event coverage (weddings, retreats, music, etc.) is generally permitted with prior notice and typically included in your rental fee.

Commercial or editorial shoots typically require a location rental agreement separate from the event, and in some cases, additional location fees may apply if the shoot goes beyond the agreed scope.

All shoots must respect guest privacy, protect the LAND’s environment, and comply with our insurance requirements.

What are the do’s and don’ts at the LAND?

Do:
Honor the sacred high-desert landscape: pack in, pack out.Use only approved vendors for catering, rentals, and bar service.Supervise children and pets at all times.Follow fire-safety protocols (no open flames without prior written approval).

Don’t:
Bring unapproved fireworks, fire lanterns, or pyrotechnics.Drive off designated roads or park in meadows.Leave trash, cigarette butts, or personal items unattended.Introduce amplified music or activities without approval.

Insurance
Do I need insurance to host an event at the LAND?

Yes. All event organizers and vendors must provide a Certificate of Insurance (COI). This is standard at professional venues and is usually simple and inexpensive to obtain. Many providers offer instant online quotes.

What should the COI include?

Commercial General Liability: at least $1M per occurrence / $2M aggregate.

If alcohol is served: Liquor Liability ($1M).

If vehicles are used: Hired/Non-Owned Auto Liability ($1M).

If vendors have employees: Workers’ Compensation (statutory).

Umbrella/Excess Coverage: $1M recommended for larger or higher-risk events.

Insurance Providers You Might Consider
If you’d like to explore providers, here are a few well-known companies many hosts use for event insurance:

Markel, Eventsured, GatherGuard.

Please note: the LAND does not have any relationship with thee carriers or receive any compensation from any insurance provider. Listing them is not an endorsement.

You are free to choose any carrier you feel comfortable with, so long as the policy meets our insurance requirements.

Who should be named?

Your COI must name Welcome to the LAND LLC and Back to the LAND LLC together as Additional Insureds, with the endorsement marked Primary & Non-Contributory.

What happens if someone is injured or property is damaged?

The organizer’s insurance will respond first. This is why the COI and indemnification provisions are required. (See Insurance FAQ below) Guests attend at their own risk, and the LAND is not responsible for personal property loss or injury.

Are there other requirements?

Yes, depending on your activities:

Fireworks, drones, live animals, or water features require specific coverage and advance approval.

Property/equipment coverage is your responsibility; the LAND is not liable for lost or damaged items.

When is the COI due?

A compliant COI must be delivered at least 30 days before your event (14 days if booked last-minute). No organizer, vendor, or service provider may set up or operate onsite without it.

What is the cancellation policy?

Cancellations and refunds follow the terms outlined in your Event Agreement. We encourage organizers to purchase event cancellation insurance to protect against unforeseen circumstances.
